Biography

As a versatile mixed media artist, Ingrid believes art should tell a meaningful story to the beholder. Her narrative style of work is inspired by memories, places and experiences, yet illustrated in a way that can be interpreted individually by the viewer. Storytelling underpins her work which also combines the magical scenery and ever-changing seasonal colours of the Peak District where she lives and works. Ingrid’s Swedish roots are sometimes evident in the work, enhanced by regular journeys back home. A growing recent focus is biodiversity and endangered species both in Northern Scandinavia and in Derbyshire.

Ingrid’s mixed media approach creates rich, colourful textures developed on a range of paper-based materials, including recycled or handmade papers. Favoured techniques include collage, mono-printing, machine stitching and crystalline water colour enhancing the work with a luminous quality. The result is a three dimensional, visual representation attempting to evoke thought.
