Pam Smart

Working from her studio in the beautiful Peak District, Pam Smart takes inspiration from the natural and built environment, painting flowers, gardens and architecture.

Biography

Pam works in watercolour, acrylic and mixed media and is particularly inspired by the architecture of her home town. Her intricate paintings combine decorative elements of buildings with vibrant colours and snippets of collage. Pam won the Buxton Spa Prize People’s Choice Award for her painting of the Cavendish Arcade. Her other passion is for flowers which she paints in bold, bright colours as detailed close ups or as garden impressions.

Pam graduated with a BA Hons in Graphic Design, then spent several months studying in India, where the vibrant culture and vivid colours had a lasting impression on her. She then went on to become a specialist teacher of art and design and completed her 25 year career as Head of Art at Chapel High School. She now works full time as an artist and runs a diverse range of workshops from her studio.
