Biography
I am a self taught lifelong woodworker and I now specialise in making small decorative hardwood boxes.
My boxes are made using sustainably sourced hardwoods and wood veneers from around the world. I use both modern and traditional techniques with a focus on hand tools and I particularly like experimenting with new techniques in order to take my work into new directions.
The simplicity of a box creates a need for accuracy and it is this accuracy and attention to detail that gives me the greatest pleasure with each box I make.
I have created boxes for private individuals both in the UK and around the world and for various companies and organisations throughout the UK. In 2024 I collaborated with both Tate Modern and Yoko Ono studio in New York to produce a series of boxes as part of an exhibition at Tate Modern in London. I have since worked on another project with Tate Britain and upcoming artist Steph Huang.
