Cath Dunn

Using patterns, curves and rhythms, Cath captures the feel of the Peak District in mixed media, watercolours and oils.

Biography

Cath’s work is inspired by places she knows intimately and returns to again and again. Using a semi-abstract approach but influenced by her former background in forestry and natural resources, Cath draws creative energy from the Peak District and surrounding areas to celebrate the landscape. Colour, either vivid or subtle, remains central to her work and is influenced by her many years living in Africa. Music, dance and the work of her contemporaries have also all had their influence but Cath’s paintings respond to her own unique and personal vision. Cath works in situ using sketches, photographic and written notes before completing paintings in the studio. To create finished pieces, Cath works in mixed media, watercolour and oils. She exhibits widely in South Yorkshire and Derbyshire and opens her studio annually as part of OpenUp Sheffield. She welcomes arranged visits and enquiries about her work.
