19th to 21st July 2019

Every year, Peak District Artisans hold an award winning art & design fair at the Devonshire Dome in Buxton. It attracts hundreds of visitors, who come back every year to browse and buy unique artworks.

Part of the Buxton Festival Fringe, The Great Dome Art and Design Fair 2019 saw over 40 members of PDA exhibiting their original artwork, handmade products and unique gifts.

As well as browsing the exhibition visitors were invited to watch live demonstrations of artists at work. In addition to the timetabled talks in the Lecture Theatre, a number of members ran demonstrations throughout the weekend at their stands.

For the first time in 2019 we had a live participation feature, with visitors able to contribute to a community folk art painting. Sue Prince, who specialises in creating and leading community folk art projects, explained: “We’re giving visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the creative atmosphere and capture the event. People will be invited to personalise and paint themselves onto a canvas using basic pre-prepared sketched outlines, they’ll also have the opportunity to add their names to the artwork.”

A regular feature of the Great Dome Art Fair is our Postcard Raffle – an opportunity to win a unique, miniature, original work of art. All of our exhibiting artists submitted a piece and the display was magnificent.
