Artist Biography

A photographer and darkroom printer, Natasha is drawn to both the land and the sea; inspiration is taken from how the fall of light picks out the tones, textures and contrasts inherent within that landscape. Natasha works only with black and white film and all of her work is hand printed utilising traditional techniques and materials. Natasha works with film and traditional photographic papers because it is exciting medium, sometimes unpredictable, occasionally frustrating but always ultimately both enjoyable and rewarding; her continued work and experimentation serves to increase her knowledge and understanding of the light sensitive materials with which she works.

In addition to her photography she also creates and prints photograms; these are images produced entirely in the darkroom, without the use of a camera. The process of creating photograms can be traced back to the mid 1800’s and the very beginnings of photography.
