Artist Biography

Inspired by nature and focusing on texture and light Ruth Robinson’s stoneware and porcelain work is predominately left naked and translucent, or stained rather than glazed revealing the natural beauty of the clay itself.
Hand building, wheel throwing, press molding, water etching or burnishing, Ruth’s wide range of work takes traditional pottery skills and gives them a modern touch.
Ruth’s work is ever evolving, with new designs and ideas often finding their way onto several different forms of work. From the tiniest button to an elaborate water etched  porcelain vase, at the heart of Ruth’s work ethic is the desire to make handmade ceramics accessible to everyone.
