Artist Biography

Michela Griffith’s images combine an early love of drawing and painting with a long-standing passion for photographing the landscape. Many reveal the ephemeral beauty of water, and its ever changing interaction with light, land and season. This ‘Liquid Light’ also inspires her to experiment with movement in and through the landscape in parallel with her evolving dialogue with water

Michela’s portfolio from the River Dove has led to a number of solo exhibitions: Moments of Confluence, The Joe Cornish Galleries, Northallerton; Liquid Light, Buxton Museum and Art Gallery, Buxton; Liquid Light, The Peak Gallery, Bakewell; and Within Elements, a joint exhibition at Foxlowe Arts Centre, Leek. Her work has also been exhibited in Lichfield Cathedral as part of the Lichfield Festival Visual Arts Exhibition. As part of professional artists’ group Peak District Artisans she has shown work at a number of venues including at the Chatsworth Festival Art Out Loud.

Her work has been commended in competitions, and featured in publications including “Artsbeat”, “Derbyshire Life”, “Staffordshire Life”, and “The Derbyshire Magazine”. Michela also carries out interviews for, and contributes to, “On Landscape” magazine.
