Born in Wales, Marie now lives in the Staffordshire Moorlands where she practices in her own studio, surrounded by the nature she loves and the peace and tranquillity that is so important for her work.
Taking inspiration from both natural and engineered objects she uses form, texture and colour to produce unique and contemporary ceramic artefacts, that reveal both the energy of the making process and the attention to detail that runs through Marie’s work.
Selected for its powerful, yet indefinable and neutral qualities, Marie often engages Raku firing processes to provide a black backdrop to her work. In contrast to this, she plays with bright glazes and oxides to add a spectrum of texture, colour and metallic finishes.
Hand built and sculpted with patterns and curves, her work has aesthetic style and purpose.
