Artist Biography

Following a degree in Graphic Design and studies in botanical painting Vivien specialises in portraying a wide range of plant life. Flowers, trees, fruit and berries are the subjects of her fresh and attractive paintings. All are shown in accurate detail, as individual plant portraits or illustrations for commissioned projects.

Vivien aims to show not only the natural beauty of colour and form but also the distinctive character of each plant. Whether cultivated in the garden or growing wild it is carefully observed and painted in glowing watercolour or sensitively drawn in pen and ink on a white background.

Published work includes illustration projects for Chatsworth, the Natural History Museum of Wales and TetraPak science awards for schools. Vivien’s illustrations of native British trees for The Woodland Trust are featured regularly by regional Wildlife Trusts, in national newspaper magazines and in educational resource packs.

Original paintings may be viewed by appointment and are also available as greetings cards.
